Our Mission:

Minuteman Disaster Response exists to bring hope in the immediate aftermath of disasters by deploying self-sufficient volunteer teams who are equipped, trained, and ready to serve at no cost to those who need it most.

Our Story:

Minuteman Disaster Response (MDR) began with a single, defining experience in May 2011, when an EF5 tornado devastated Joplin, Missouri.      A small group of men from North Texas traveled to the area to assist in the recovery, encountering unimaginable destruction and widespread unmet needs in the community. Deeply moved by the resilience and challenges of the people they met; these men felt a calling to do more.

Their shared experience in Joplin fueled their vision to create a volunteer group specifically trained to respond to communities in distress after disasters. Later that year, MDR was officially founded by Gary Anderson, Brian Ballard, Michael Gamble, and Paul Pogue with a mission to bring hope, support, and hands-on assistance to disaster-stricken areas.

What We Do:

Before disaster strikes, our meteorologists monitor storms across the nation and prepare our teams for deployment.

Tree and Vegetative Debris Removal: Our trained chainsaw teams and compact track loader operators work safely and efficiently to clear access points, remove dangerous limbs, and open up properties and roads for homeowners, first responders, and municipalities. This critical step reduces further risk and allows recovery efforts to move forward.

Mucking and Gutting: Our teams carefully enter flood-damaged homes to begin the process of removing contaminated mud, debris, and materials. Using protective equipment and specialized tools, they tear out waterlogged drywall, insulation, and flooring layer by layer, working methodically to expose the structural frame. This process not only eliminates health hazards like mold but also ensures the home is properly prepared for drying, sanitization, and eventual repair.

We welcome all capable and willing men and women over the age of 18 to join our team.
